TTTracklog is a tracklogger which is independent and uses minimal resources. The tracks are outputted as NMEA log, gpx files and .itn route files.
TTTracklog ist ein Track-Logger, welcher unabhängig von anderen Softwarekomponenten ist und so gut wie keine Rechenzeit beansprucht. Die Tracks werden als NMEA-logfiles, als gpx-Dateien und als itn Dateien ausgegeben.
TTTracklog est un plug-in indépendant d'enregistrement de traces et qui n'utilise quasiment aucune ressource. Les traces sont générées sous la forme de fichiers log NMEA, gpx et itn.
TTTracklog is een onafhankelijke GPS track logger voor tomtom met minimale systeem belasting. De tracks worden opgeslagen als NMEA log, gpx bestanden en .itn route bestanden.
TTTracklog è un'applicazione per registrare tracciati con la posizione misurata dal GPS. Utilizza minime risorse di sitema ed è indipendente dalle altre applicazioni attive. Le tracce possono essere salvate in formato NMEA, gpx e itn. Il programma permette di effettuare analisi statistiche sui tracciati e applicare filtri per la conversione in formato gpx (es.: riduzione del numero dei punti).

The .gpx files can be uploaded to the http://www.openstreetmap.org/ project. The .itn files can be directly used on the TomTom to find positions of the last stop etc. (Use the route management function). The Files can become as large as 20 MBytes each, containing up to approx. 130000 lines of log output which is about 43000 Trackpoints (if the tomtom is on 24h, recorded every two seconds). It is important to (re)move them before the SDCARD or internal FLASH memory is full. |
Die .log Dateien werden alle ca. 15 Minuten mit neuen Daten aktualisiert, genauso die .itn Dateien. Die .gpx Dateien werden nur beim Tageswechsel geschrieben oder wenn TTTracklog per Button neu gestartet wird. Die .gpx Dateien sind bereit, mit anderen Programmen bearbeitet zu werden. Sie eignen sich auch ganz hervorragend zum Hochladen in das Openstreetmap-Projekt (http://www.openstreetmap.org/). Die .itn Dateien können mit der TomTom-eigenen Routenverwaltung (Menüpunkt 'Reiseroutenplanung') auf dem Gerät selbst bearbeitet und auch auf der Straßenkarte angezeigt werden. Sie eignen sich auch für ein nachträgliches Abfahren der Route (oder ein Zurückfinden zum Ausgangspunkt). Die NMEA-log Dateien beinhalten noch mehr Informationen als die bloßen Trackpunkte: z.B: Informationen über die Satelliten etc. TTTracklog ist so konzipiert, daß es wirklich alles aufzeichnet, was das GPS ausspuckt. Diese Dateien können deshalb sehr groß werden (bis zu 20 MBytes für volle 24 Stunden Aufzeichnungen, sie enthalten dann etwa 130000 Zeilen des GPS-Empfaengers und typischerweise ca. 43000 Trackpunkte bei guten Satellitenempfang.). Obwohl der interne Speicher des TomTom relativ groß ist und für mindestens 10 volle Tage ausreichen sollte, ist es empfehlenswert, diese Dateien von Zeit zu Zeit vom TomTom zu entfernen (und auf einem PC zu speichern), damit der Speicher nicht irgendwann voll wird. |
Le fichier .log est actualisé env. toutes les 15 minutes avec les nouvelles données, de même que le fichier .itn. Les fichiers .gpx et .txt sont générés lors du changement de jour, de l'arrêt de TTTracklog (bouton stop) ou de son redémarrage. Les fichiers .gpx sont prêts à être traités et visualisés au moyen d'autres logiciels. Comme ils peuvent contenir plusieurs parcours dans un seul fichier, il convient d'utiliser un logiciel capable de traiter ces parcours multiples. Un logiciel compatible est par exemple RouteConverter (http://www.routeconverter.de). L'utilisation du projet Openstreetmap (http://www.openstreetmap.org) peut également être recommandée. Les fichiers .itn peuvent être traités et affichés directement via le menu 'planification d'itinéraires' du TomTom. Ils peuvent également être utilisés pour refaire le parcours ou pour retrouver un point de passage. Les fichiers .log NMEA contiennent encore plus d'informations que les simples points de passage, par ex. le nombre de satellites. TTTracklog est ainsi conçu pour enregistrer l'intégralité des données qu'il reçoit du GPS. Ces fichiers .log peuvent ainsi devenir volumineux (jusqu'à 20 Mb pour 24h d'enregistrement, ils contiennent alors env. 130000 lignes du récepteur GPS ainsi qu'env. 43000 traces en cas de bonne réception satellitaire. Bien que la mémoire interne du TomTom est relativement grande et devrait suffire pour 10 jours complets d'enregistrement, il est conseillé de supprimer ces fichiers du TomTom et de les copier sur son ordinateur afin de ne pas saturer la mémoire interne. |

Start
TomTom menu. You should get a message, that TTTracklog has been started. From now on up to a reboot or a reset of the Device (which is also performed in case you connect the TomTom to your computer), the GPS track is logged and written to the files described above. If you are not sure, if TTTracklog is already running and you want to activate it, it is safe to start it again from the icon menu. |

Every 20 minutes, a point is stored in the .itn file. So you can reconstruct where you have been by selecting the route management icon, then options, then load a route. So you can easily navigate back to where you have been before. The following files have to be from time to time deleted: |

The elevation (altitude), course and speed informations are saved in the .gpx file. Elevation is in meters, course is in degrees and speed is in m/s (meter per second).

Comments
- TTTracklog uses a 24 kBytes buffer, so only every 15 minutes and/or if the buffer is full, a write operation to the SDCARD is necessary. So, decrease of lifetime should not be an issue.
- It might be necessary to create the statdata, text and itn folders before TTTracklog can be used.
- TTTracklog verwendet intern einen Buffer von 24 kBytes, um die Daten vom GPS zwischenzuspeichern. Beim Schreiben auf den FLASH Speicher wird immer der ganze Buffer geschrieben, sobald er voll ist, oder nach maximal 15 Minuten. Auf diese Weise kann die Lebensdauer des interenn FLASH speichers geschont werden, da die Speichervorgänge so nur alle paar Minuten erfolgen müssen.
- Beachte auch, dass evtl. die statdata, text und itn Ordner manuell auf dem TomTom angelegt werden müssen (sofern nicht vorhanden), bevor man TTTracklog nutzen kann.
- TTTracklog utilise une mémoire tampon (buffer) de 24 kBytes pour enregistrer temporairement les données du GPS. C'est toujours le buffer en entier qui est écrit sur la mémoire flash, dès qu'il est plein, ou au plus tard après 15 minutes. De cette manière, la durée de vie de la mémoire flash interne peut être ménagée puisque la procédure d'écriture ne s'exécute que toutes les quelques minutes.
