From OpenTom
Hi, Iam new to this site, not sure if anyone will read this or i'll be able to get back to see????. First let me say what an brill site.
Now i'v read some questions about the maps, updateing, inproving etc
i'm a HGV driver and have managed to get hold of road imformation on weight limit and width limit, and have created my own POI, enableing me to check a route, and avoid roads manualy. Now im not a coder so i was going to employ someone to to do a project for me. The idea is the same as the "Toll Charge" were you can put in how heavy you are and then the routing will not take you onto these roads. I'v spoken to TomTom, they are not that interested, have also asked for their help on the project (No Luck there).
Now with their map being encrypted ?, am i just wasting my time and should just stick to manul aviods or is this a project that can be done ????

Great, amazing amount of work! I was trying to figure out if there was a reasonably simple way to have my tom tom turn on automatically when I start the car. Any ideas of where to look for this information. Thanks! Wayne (California)

LCD panel TT-GO
Hi,
Can somebody tell me what brand and/or model LCD panel TomTom uses for their Go series navigators. I am doing some research and this info would be handy.
Thanks.

Switch of internal speaker TomTomGo 700 when in docking station
Hi,
I like to switch of the internal speaker of my TomTomGo 700 when I connect the TomTomGo to his docking station. I have mounted an audio connector into the base of the docking station. The pins of this connector I have connected to pin 5 and 6 (sound left and right)of the TomTomGo connector. The sound from this connector will be let in my intercom system on my motorcycle. Theirfore I like to switch of the internal speaker. I was thinking that the Docking Sense 0 and/or 1 should handle this but I connected both pins (2 and 3) of the docking connector to ground but the internal speaker is still working. Have anybody an idea how to handle this?
Thanks
Gerard
TomTom GO 700
Greetings all...
I just got my TomTom GO 700, and then found this site...WOW! I have alreay installed the MP3 player and it works perfectly...only drawback is that there is no way to switch between the TTGO software and the MP3 software..I see a Start-Up Menu idea is in the works...I would love to see this.
Anyway, I created my own Splash screen, which is kinda kule.
What I really would like to know at this point is if it is possible to upload current position to my webserver somehow (I am thinking using my Bluetooth CellPhone and emailing to a PHP script maybe XML-RPC?) so that people can log into my site and see where I am? I am thinking I would like to update my position on the website every hour, or maybe just 2-3 times per day (depends on how much it will co$t me for each update, and what resources I will have available)
I am just getting into Linux, and really dont know alot about it (LOL) YET! But I do have some PHP/MySQL background and I script in a language called LSL which is specifically for a Metaverse called SecondLife (www.secondlife.com).
Any suggestions/ comments will be appreciated, as well as any info where a "noob" like myself should check out. Email: mitz@steamdata.com or sign up for SecondLife (7 days free trial / $9.95 one-time LIFETIME BASIC MEMBER fee) and contact Mitzpatrick Fitzsimmons in-world!

Blutooth headsets
Is it possible for OpenTom to be used to allow the voice directions on a TomTom One to be repeated to a bluetooth headset(or ear plug). I'm new to Linux, but I see that bluez is used to control bluetooth devices, and is also capable of audio transmission, the ALSA driver appeared to be able to take any audio going to the mixer and repeating it to a bluetooth headset. The hardware appears very similar to the RIDER which has headset support. I would like to use the ONE with a motorcycle and the wired headset is very restrictive.
Spare parts?
I need a new loudspeaker for my Classic. Does anyone know of a supplier or at least what the impedance is of the existing one? TomTom will not sell me one.
Thanks,
Mike

BTConsole
Hello all... Playing around in the btconsole is fun, but I thought that it was a pitty that I have to reboot the tomtom every time I want to stop using the btconsole, to prevent others (who know this little tool) from connecting to the btconsole. Now I changed the /etc/passwd to prompt me for a password. I guess that this should not be an issue for the functionality of the TomTom software?
I haven't tested yet, but maybe the update tools could have an issue with this.
Any thoughts?
